Bougherra heads to pastures new.

Madjid Bougherra left Charlton on Thursday 31st July. The Six Foot Two Inches defender left to join Scotish giants Rangers and will be playing UEFA Cup Football next season. Rangers landed the Center Back for a fee off £2.5mill with no announced add-ons to come along to the Addicks for appearances or sell on fees. Bougherra had completed a move to the Valley back in January 2007 the season Charlton was relegated from the top flight. Charlton brought the defender to the Valley for the same amount of what bought, £2.5million and the defender went on to play 37 games for the Addicks in all league and cup appearances. The defender came a Valley favorite over the past season and half and scored 2 goals in the league last season. The defender was quoted 'unsettled' to stay at the club when knowing clubs was chasing after the center back. This now leaves a gap in the defense for the Addicks as of only having a couple of proven center backs and are look to sign Sam Sodje from Reading who spent last season on loan at the Addicks. As well Pardew may opt to play either Semedo or Amady Faye at center back.
