Charlton bid for Nick Bailey
Southend United's Nick Bailey is on the wish list for Charlton's Alan Pardew as the club made a undisclosed bid for the transfer listed midfielder. Southend's player of the year of last season has been recently transfer listed after not agreeing a contract extension and looks to head to pastures new before the end of the transfer market.
The 24 year old has made 44 appearances for Southend since joining last 07 summer and scored 9 goals for the club. The 5ft 10inches midfielder has 1 international cap after playing for the England C team whilst at previous club Barnet who he had won the National Conference in 2005. Southend had confirmed within the week that they had rejected a undisclosed bid for the midfielder from Charlton. Alan Pardew is set to make a stronger bid for the midfielder what will be around the region of £500,000 to secure the services of the midfielder who joined Southend for £175,000 the previous season.
The midfielder commented on the move to Charlton if to happen as a 'Dream Move' in a interview earlier in the day. As ByTheSword will now quote:
"My head isn't right to be honest, as soon as Charlton came in - my mind was already there, it is a dream move for me."
"This is an opportunity of a life time for me, to join one of the Championship's biggest clubs is something I only dreamed about when I was playing non-league just a few years ago."
"I have loved my time at all my clubs Barnet and now Southend the fans have always taken to me because of my style of play and I have loved them back, and I know I have given 100 per cent on the field, 100 per cent of the time."
