Disney's new film resembles its glory days of animation
It's been a long time since we've seen a movie like "The Princess and the Frog."
Havingthe simpsons dvd grown up on the Disney musicals of the '90s, from "The Little Mermaid" (1989) to "Beauty and the Beast" (1991) all the way to "Pocahontas" (1995) and dvd disney"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1996), Disney had an unparalleled run that decade that in many ways would come to define the childhood of a generation. But with the advent disney dvdof computer animation, the disney movies on dvdhand-drawn musicals fell by the wayside, and animation hasn't been the same since.
Not to say that computer-animatedthe simpsons dvd films haven't been successful. The films of Pixar have been offering the best animated films around since 1995 when thefamily guy dvd original "Toy Story" was released. But when every single animated film is fully computer animated, it just becomes boring.
"The Princessdisney dvd and the Frog" is a throwback, a return to form for Disney that is both welcome and refreshing. Its heroine is Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), a New Orleans waitress who dreams of one day owning her own restaurant, who comes all disney dvdsface to face with a disney movies on dvdtalking frog who is really Prince Naveen of Maldonia (Bruce Campos) and has been put under thedisney dvds spell of the the simpsons dvd evil Dr. Facilier (Keith David). Naveen insists that if Tiana disney dvd box setkisses him, he will be restored to his form.
Instead, Tianadisney dvd collection is transformed into a frog herself, and an adventure ensues deep into the Louisiana bayou to find the voodoo priestess Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis) and become human again in time to stop a sinister plot by Dr. Facilier to marry his lackey to the wealthy socialite, Charlotte disney dvd(Jennifer Cody), and turn New Orleans over all disney dvdsto the shadow world.
It's a pretty standard disney dvdDisney plot, filled with funny sidekicks and jazzy musical numbers, but that is precisely what makes "The Princess and the Frog"dvd disney so charming and ultimately so South park seasoncomforting.the simpsons dvd It's not Disney's best work, the plot doesn't always make sense (it's never American dad dvdquite clear exactly what Dr. Facilier's plans are; he's just the bad guy, and that's all we need to know), and the songs by Randy Newman are mostly forgettable, but there is a hint, a spark of that old Disney magic there disney dvd box setamong the gorgeousall disney dvds hand-drawn frames.
It just feels good disney dvd collectionto live in a world where South park dvdmovies like this are still made. The spirit of Disney has been recaptured, regardless of whether or not the film is as successful as some of their the simpsons dvd previous outings. It's a start, disney movies on dvdproof that it can still be done. I hope this marks the beginning of a new era of Disney musicals, South park seasonwhich has been a sorely missed family guy dvd part of movie-going culture for far too long.
