Eva Longoria is a helpful housewife

When it comes to good causes, Eva Longoria is all business.
The Desperate Housewives star, 34, Cold Case box set was just named Philanthropist of the Year by The Hollywood Reporter and she's spreading goodwill in Miami Beach Saturday for the Gilmore Girls series dvd Rally for Children With Cancer.
The Miami Herald caught up with the busy gal as she was in between takes on the set of her ABC show. We hoped we weren't interfering with her House dvd box setscript memorization but she assured us, ``Nope, memory is a muscle.''
She'll surely need muscle this weekend -- doesn't look like there's much rest involved.

``It's a really fun event,'' said Longoria. ``Plus you're helping support families affected by childhood cancer.''
Longoria hasn't had personal experience with the disease, Gossip Girl 1-2 dvd box setbut it's a cause close to her heart.
``It's devastating when any family has to go through the diagnosis of cancer,'' she said. ``But when it's a child, it's even more devastating.''
