Squad Cut Suggestions
Thought i'd ask who you think should be cut from the Charlton Squad, I've always favoured a clear out and if possible these are the players i'd cut. This is not saying these players are crap, just those who I would not want in the squad to build for the future or to take into the premier league
Darren Randolph
Jonathan Fortune
Cory Gibbs
Scott Wagstaff
Smeado
Jerome Thomas
Zeng Zhi
Amy Faye
Matt Holland
Martin Christeansen
Marcus Bent
Chris Dickson
Chris Iwelumo
Kelly Younga
Anybody else have their own suggestions?

Well actually I'd of been tempted to keep him were he healthy, but its just to much of a wage budget drag to be rationalized.

Re: Squad Cut Suggestions
Fair enough I just think that realistically if your goal is to return to the premiership they have no place in your squad. I think if you wanted to establish yourself in the championship or be a strong league one side they'd be fine, but i have greater aspirations.

Its just a matter of opinion, but I just don't see much in them. I remember at West ham we tried out young players thick and fast and if they didn't make the grade we cut them immediately, like Richard Garcia and David Noble, its all about being ruthless and not settling for mediocrity otherwise you get stuck in that division. We had a ludicrious turn over in that division, all though I understand we were very well funded in comparison.

WESTHAM <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< CHARLTON
thus prove you was richer than us even when we were premier and you was fizzy pop
Re: Squad Cut Suggestions
Yeah but its still no excuse to accept mediocrity, we got our wage bill down so much so quickly I think Defoe, Carrick, James, Repka and Hutchinson were the only players earnign above 10k when we finished our clear out and started the season, and four of those went out the exit door sooner rather than later.
It reminds me I always thought Charlton should go for more Part Exchanges we used it quite alot to bulster the squad.
But we had the luck aid of having Wimbledon being bankrupt and being able to pinch Reo Coker, Jobi McAnuff and Adam Nowland for next to nothing.

Lucky you, knowing us if we got Reo Coker we would have sold him for less than we bought him for

I would keep the players in bold. Chris Dickson, Kelly Youga & Scott Wagstaff are all promising youngsters. And Matt Holland has bags of experience, can play a pass and works his nuts off. Holland could definately help us return to the Premiership.
