Ratings: Idol Keeps Rocking; Parenthood Debuts Fairly
American Idol continued its winning ways buy Criminal mindsTuesday, while NBC's heavily promoted Parenthood had a modest debut.
Idol drew 23.5 million viewers over its two-hour Curb Your Enthusiasm tv seriesbroadcast and more than doubled its competition among adults 18-to-49, pushing Fox to another overall Tuesday win.
Parenthood, meanwhile, drew 8.1 million viewers, tv show Seinfeld season dvd box set
despite NBC's continuous promotion during the heavily watched Winter Olympics. The show retained most of its Biggest Loser lead-in great show CSI Las Vegas dvd season(8.3 million viewers), which wasn't much of a boost, considering Loser was down 11 percent from its last episode before the Olympics.
The silver lining for NBC, howeverMedium complete, is that Parenthood won the 10/9c timeslot in the demo, which was good enough to move the network to third place overall for the night.
CBS took the silver medal, CSI Miami seasons 1-7 dvdbut all its shows fell a bit after a two-week break. NCIS (19.7 million viewers) held up fairly well, but NCIS: Los Angeles Disney dvd collection(15 million viewers) was down 24 percent in the demo and Disney movie on dvdThe Good Wife (13.3 million viewers) lost 13 percent in the demo going against Parenthood.
ABC fell to fourth for the night,Michael Jackson DVD Collection as Lost (9.2 million viewers) tumbled 13 percent to its lowest demo rating of the season. tv show Michael Jackson Ultimate dvd CollectionIt was bookended by a Lost repeat (4.3 million viewers) andThe shield dvd box set a 20/20 special (5.4 million viewers).
On the CW, repeats of 90210 Grey's Anatomy seasonsand Melrose Place both drew less than 1 million viewers.
