Lost: Are they all dead?

Could they all be dead and this is what Catholics consider purgatory? I just got into this starting lost season 2 and thats what I am getting out of it. Explains why the children are being taken, why that baby had to be baptized, and the flash backs on the character lives.
lost nearly drive crazy, I watch it every night.
