The air is getting nippier and the weather is getting colder: which boots are being snatched up fast this winter 2009/2010?

Here are the top 6 best-selling winter boots on online shoe stores.

6. Coming in at number 6 is the Winter Hit Wide Calf from Gabriella Rocha. A simple pull-on boot with a small amount of slouch, this suede boot offers nothing more than affordable fashion and a wide selection of colors to choose from. At a $69.95 price point for a tall boot, the lack of arch support and relatively cheap quality compared to other winter boots are forgivable. And judging from how many customers who already bought these boots, apparently they’re thinking the same thing.

5. The Bearpaw Eva 8″ ($59.95) boot takes the #5 spot. Granted that people are buying these boots more because of the fact that they’re the cheaper alternative to Uggs, Bearpaw boots do have something more going for them aside from their lower price. They’re fully lined with sheepskin, the sole is made of lightweight rubber, and you can use a leather spray on the suede uppers to make them waterproof. Hey – that still sounds exactly like Uggs.

4. Coming all the way from left field, the 4th best-selling winter boot is the UGG Cove, $154.00. This is an unexpectedly popular boot because it is the only one out of this entire list that actually resembles a proper winter boot. A variation of the equally popular La Jolla boot, the Cove features heavy-duty braiding and leather wrap around the ankle, a leather-covered Poron® footbed, and a slip-proof rubber sole with ribbed traction. It’s a surprise that this isn’t the number 1 winter boot. They sound like the perfect boot to traipse through the snow in.

3. Breaking into the top 3 is the Tyller boot from Steve Madden, $79.90. ugg classic matellic boots Another cheap tall boot, except this one is more aesthetically appealing. It still lacks foot cushion and arch support but they’re fashionable enough and “cute” with jeans and skirts.

2. Hunter Original boots from Hunter ( $114.95) is the second placer. ugg adirondack II boots These are essentially rain boots but when worn with fleece socks, these rubber boots are just the thing to keep your feet from getting wet and cold during the winter time. Hunter Originals have been getting a lot of press lately – these boots have been featured in online shoe stores own magazine, were included in Glamour.com’s holiday gift guide, and were worn by Kristen Stewart in the movie Twilight.

1. And the number 1 best-selling winter boot for 2009/2010 is…. the UGG boot (surprise!). UGG Classic Short, UGG Classic Tall, UGG Classic Cardy, UGG Bailey Button – all these UGG styles have taken over online shoe stores as the most popular boots for this year and probably for the last 3 or 4 years as well. A lot of people thought that the UGG’s time was up, but online shoe store shoppers have voted through their purchases: UGGs are still the best boots to keep your feet warm and dry during winter.
