We all dream of being rich – rich to the point of being able to buy anything, even our way out of trouble. The Darling family at the heart this series are just that wealthy and more so. Nick quickly learns how the family could keep his father busy as he is embroiled in sex tape scandals, decades long affairs, transsexual affairs, illegitimate children and the fact that one of the misbegotten Darling clan may have had a hand in his father’s death.

Being Nicholas George is a lot like being Charlie in the chocolate factory – he’s privy to a world of indulgence, but mostly as a spectator. Peter Krause ably brings Nicholas George, the moral center of an immoral world, to the screen. Krause’s work in SportsNight and Six Feet Under dvd seasonbrought my initial interest to this series. In contrast to this, Nicholas’ search for details regarding his father’s death is a constant, adds depth and keeps the fraying threads from falling too far apart.
